Avenir Light is a clean and stylish font favored by designers. It's easy on the eyes and a great go to font for titles, paragraphs & more.

Steven Soderbergh has done such classic modern films like Traffic, Erin Brokovich, sex, lies and videotape and many more.  He can work with almost any camera he wants but he has chosen to use smartphones in his films in the last few years.

Below, we'll watch three videos.

1.  The trailer of his film Unsane which used i phone filmmaking.

2.  An interview with Steven Soderbegh describing why he chose this medium and its advantages.  3.  A behind the scenes look at the making of that movie to show you what it looks like in a professional setting.

How to improve your

cinematography in your filmmaking

So when we are ready to move beyond the basics of cinematography and we want to take the look of our films to the next level, how do we do that?

One way to move the next level when you're using your smartphone as a camera is to get an app that can expand your capabilities in your shots.

After doing some research, I have found that Filmic Pro is the app that more advanced filmmakers use.  It's not required for you to have this app for the class but I think it's useful to see how you can step up your game if you have it.  I would purchase it and if you need support in this endeavor, please let me know.

But in the video below, we're going to go over how it works and how it can help you make your films look much better.

For rest of the class, I'll let you explore your equipment and figure out how to make sure you are totally prepared to shoot your film.   I'll also go over the fundamentals with any student who was not in Film I.
